Stone Mountain, largest bas-relief in the world, with a carved area of 3 acres. The memorial to the Confederacy depicts three of its most distinguished heroes: (L-R) Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis, riding their favorite horses.
Work on it began in 1916 with Gutzon Borglum, who abandoned the project before working on Mount Rushmore. It was finally completed in 1972.
