Breathe, Eat, Breathe

Apo Island, Negros Oriental (2015)
Apo Island was home to a magnificent marine sanctuary along its eastern side. Coral reef and diverse marine life thrived on its very shores. These were unfortunately destroyed by two typhoons that bulldozed the reef to smithereens. Only one percent of it are said to remain. Its beauty can now only be glimpsed in replicas in aquariums in Chicago and San Francisco.
For some reason–villagers do not know–green sea turtles began hanging out in greater numbers on the island’s western side, replacing the lost reef as the their tourist attraction.
